How to ease off anxiety? RELAXATION TIPS?
Relaxation is excellent for anxiety, but it takes practice. It really helps to be taught by a professional psychologist. One method is to set aside time in the day when you will not be disturbed. Similar to meditation, you cause your mind to focus on one thing - maybe a candle or a point on the wall. Then when thoughts intrude, you gently (without being frustrated at yourself) bring you mind back to the point or the candle. As you do this you can progressively tense and then relax individual muscle groups in your body. It takes a lot of practice but this will teach you to get control over your thoughts so they no longer intrude so much.
Get yourself a book on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Treatment for anxiety often includes cognitive restructuring (changing inaccurate thoughts), exposure and behaviour prevention, worry exposure, self-monitoring and lots of very well researched stuff that really helps overcome anxiety.
If you can't afford a CBT therapist get a book.
It's very hard for me to stay positive and all. Im really been having this ping-pong ball match in my head and I get caught up in thought cycles.
Any helpful suggestions?
Much thanks!
