Mandarmani Hotels – Relaxing on the Beach

Mandarmani is one of the most upcoming beach resorts in the east Midnapore district in the state of West Bengal. Located at a distance of about 180 km from Kolkata, Mandarmani has been attracting a lot of beach lovers and adventure sport lovers to its beach.Though Mandarmani is located near Digha beach, a very popular beach town, it remained unexplored till very recently. A lot of weekend crowd now frequents Mandarmani to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.The main attraction of Mandarmani lies in the 13 km long beach. Statistics say that Mandarmani has probably the longest motor able beaches in India.

Though a recently discovered beach, Mandarmani has a lot of hotels in the budget range and a few resorts in the high-end that ensure you have a comfortable stay.

To popularise Mandarmani and the adjoining Digha beach, an annual four day Digha and Mandarmani Beach Festival has been commenced by the Tourism Department. Tourists can also enjoy rides on speed boats, jet skis, sand bikes, para-gliding and banana boats during this occasion.

Like all the beach towns a lot of illegal hotel shacks have come up along the coastline that also serve food. Calcutta high court had asked for demolition of these resorts that violate the Coastal Regulation Zone Act that bars any construction within 500 metre of the coastline. Mandarmani is extremely vulnerable to erosion.

Mandarmani is connected by road and rail. Numerous state owned buses and private buses ply from the Esplanade and Howrah bus stations in Kolkata to Mandarmani. The nearest railway station in Mandarmani is Contai railway station.
