If you are a single parent who wants to take your romantic life in your own hands and take control of it, then congratulations for making that step! Online dating for parents have made it easier for single parents like yourself to enjoy dating and meeting someone. But if you are feeling anxious because you haven't found someone in online dating yet, then we must calm down those anxiety and address them.
The thing is that you have to change your perspectives in online dating to be able to fully enjoy it. So here are the top two tips that can help you enjoy online dating better, and also to help you love yourself a bit better too:
1. Do make a self-care plan and make sure to include your social life into it.
A self-care plan is something all single parents should have. It's a plan to put yourself first and to love yourself. The thing is that sometimes, as single parents, there would be times that you would be so busy taking care of the kids and raising them well plus there's the fact that you have to work to make a living too. Just thinking about it could drive someone to the brink of exhaustion. Thus, here comes the self-care plan. Whatever happens, you should always set aside time for yourself. Set time to go out with friends or other family members. Take time out from work and family, and give yourself "ME time," where you can indulge yourself with the things that you want to do.
Don't feel guilty about these times of self-pampering, because it's not something that you just WANT, but it's something that you really do NEED. Refresh yourself, your soul, and your physical body by getting to know yourself once again and relaxing. Online dating is another form of social life with which you can indulge yourself in. Set apart some time in the day where you can log in and get to know other virtual daters. This can be your refreshing "me time" during the days where you just don't have enough time to go out to catch a movie or have dinner with friends. Make friends online, and form wonderful bonds with them.
2. Build potential romantic relationships based on friendship and not just from initial attraction or chemistry.
When you go on online dating for parents, you must focus on making friends and expanding your social circle instead of immediately focusing on finding your ideal match or mate. Take your time, and build friendships because this would allow you to get to know the other person better. Of course, you know when you are immediately attracted or drawn to another online dater or not. This attraction usually stems from physical aspects rather than anything else. The initial attraction and chemistry is only the tip of the iceberg, so you must get to know each other and explore common interests. While doing so, think of the other person as a friend who you'd like to know better. Allow this person to get to know you better too. Besides, getting to know each other as friends, and nothing more (initially anyway), you'd open yourselves up to seeing each other's best and worst qualities more clearly compared to if you're getting to know each other because of romantic reasons.
After you get to know the other person, then you can paint a clearer vision of them which can help you evaluate the potential of the relationship.
